hi all!

well, it can be termed as the battle of the heavyweights as both of these names are BIG when it comes to project management software.

i have had the opportunity to use a number of tools including these two. here’s my verdict:

i will keep it brief. The better tool is undoubtedly Monday. the reasons behind it are:

  • it is better for handling large organization data
  • it has better security
  • Monday ha Gantt charts and time tracking, Asana doesnt
  • Monday is a bit less costly than Asana
  • It is more efficient in working

the only thing Asana has over Monday is the number of integrations it offers. It offers over 100 integrations while Monday doesn’t even allow 50.

however, both the tools are amazing. If you still want a third option, you can always go for nTask manager or ClickUp. both of these tools are lightweight, easy on the pocket, and loaded with features.

Both Monday and Asana are cloud-based and aim for small and mid-sized organizations for project management. However, they approach this task in a bit different ways. Here’s a brief list of basic features both systems offer so that you can decide which suits your personal requirements better:

  1. Asana
  • Sidebar and top navigation display labels and icons, and all the essential features which make adding new tasks and managing project swift and simple
  • Visualization options as timeline, list, and calendar; advanced visualization features as portfolios and workloads
  • Advanced team management and collaboration features
  • Commenting available on team pages, tasks, and project views
  • Advanced permission levels for teams and pages
  • Free file storage
  • A free plan with up to 15 individuals working in the system

2. Monday.com

  • Default screen displaying project plans or boards, inbox, and dashboards
  • Visualization options as timeline, table, calendar, kanban board, chart, calendar, or map.
  • In a table project view, column types such as timeline, color-coded status, checkbox, progress tracking, star rating, etc. are available
  • Various permission settings for team management
  • Comments on tasks
  • Gantt charts
  • 14-day free trial

Consider their functionality, opt for a demo to test both tools out, and only then, choose which one deals with your requirements better — Monday or Asana.
